ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS, SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE, and HUMAN CONNECTIVITY.
Each individual acquisition is an active participant
in the larger goal, purpose, and engagement of a community.
Inspired by
HURRICANE MARIA

This piece was inspired by the destruction of Puerto Rico by Hurricane María and the aftermath that followed. Due to its poor electric grid infrastructure and the Jones Act, people were left in the dark for almost a year, with some places still today suffering the consequences. Over 3,000 people died due to lack of power, an island that is in prime location to benefit from Solar. Too many loved ones could not communicate to get help, or simply tell a loved one they were ok, because there was no power. If there would've been a simple structure where they could power their phones, ventilators, insulin refrigerators, etc...how many stories would be different today? Diesel powered generators that were used, spurting all those fumes into the air, were useless since gasoline was practically impossible to acquire and prices were astronomical. The darkness in the evenings were "boca de lobo".

The burden falls on us to take the necessary measures of protecting our environment. When you know that "in 60 minutes, the amount of power from the sun that strikes the Earth is more than the entire world consumes in one year"...then, you learn that we are inhaling micro-plastics for not recycling, when you learn how we are depleting our natural resources, how people are suffering from health issues from impositions that have alternatives, the ENVIRONMENTAL INEQUALITIES suffered by many, and a direct connection is made with the ever more incremental destruction of natural catastrophes... how can you not wonder what must be done to live synergistically with nature in a circular economy?

to propagate, as real seedlings would, “germinating” all around the nation, creating a movement and communities that provide and support benefits to people, society, and our planet.
This is the macro concept of each one - the whole - the series.
Looking inward to the individualized personality of each, a single Perennial provides participation and presence to the involved.

Although the shape of each Perennial was designed to be the same, each takes on its own personality with the elements left open for interpretation. Just like humans having a head, nose, legs, arms, but still- we are our own unique design.
Each Perennial is exclusively envisioned as Native Flora.
